I want to put sound in a proto2k ho diesel gp7. Has any one done it and how do I do it? Thanks
The EASIEST (but probably most expensive) way is to buy one of the new P2K GP9’s with sound and swap bodies.
For DIY, I believe Bruce at Litchfield Station has a photo of one in his photos section that should give you a good idea of how to fit in the decoder and speaker.

Last months model Railroad craftsman (maybe two months ago now) had an article describing how to put sound in a P2K GP-7 no kidding. I read it and was able to put a great sound in my P2K GP-9. I was able to put in a 1 1/2 inch oval speaker just above the front truck. Sounds better than my store bought GP-9 w/QSI. ANd it was an easy project. I have lots of pics I took of the process if interested.

Here’s a link to an installation I did on an Atlas C30-7.

Fancier, perhaps, than you were thinking of (the see-through grilles took almost half the time by themselves), but I like the results.
