I usually frequent the Trains Forum but I thought this question may be better suited to this Forum.
I’ve seen references to the Great Northern color scheme as green and orange. All photos I have seen show a green with a fair amount of brown in it too. Was this green a kind of green/brown color?
Thanks for your help on this one. [:)]

The GN lists the EB colors as Omaha Orange, Dulux Gold, and Pullman Green. Guess what? Pullman Green works!. I’ve got some unused bottles of Scalecoat “GN Empire Builder Green” that will probably fossilize before I use them. I made a trip to Chicago’s Union Station when the 1947 Empire Builder was on display and spent the next few years (decades?) thinking the train was orange and brown. If you’re into modeling, Pullman Green for the green and CN Yellow for the Dulux striping works well and the GN Empire Builder Orange works for the orange.
Jum, thanks for the feedback. [:)]
Over on the Trains Forum Richard has also been very helpful. As Rick said, the light level and whether filters are used affects the photo, plus weathering of the rolling stock.
I realise it’s officially Pullman Green, but comapred to other RRs that used Pullman Green, it sure seems to have a fair amount of brown in it.
For example, I was able to do some window shopping recently, and drooled at the Kato N scale ‘packs of 4’ passenger car sets - they seemed like green with brown in it…anyway - it all looks good! [:)][;)]
Cheers [:)]
