QSI decoders giving a constant non-stop beeping

I find that my QSI decoder equipped Proto 2000 GP7 diesels don’t function properly when I startup my Digitrax Super Chief system (DCS100 + DT400), unless I completely shut down the decoders by pressing 9+9 three times and then when I start up Digitrax activating the diesels by pressing 6+6.

If I close the system down without using 9+9 to shut down the decoders, when I start Digitrax up the GP7 decoders keep giving a beep about every second non-stop.

However, if the system cuts out because of a short and I have to close the sytem down and start it again, the GP7s work OK and don’t produce the constant beeping.

Anybody else had this happen? Am I supposed to shut down the decoders with 9+9 everytime I finish?

Cheers, Malcolm

No, that’s not normal. Shutting the down is nice, but you shouldn’t HAVE to do it. I don’t have on of the P2K’s but I do have 2 BLI’s and an Atlas, and without shutting them down, when I power back up with my Zephyr they don’t make odd noises. I don’t recall seeing ‘beep codes’ in the full QSI manual (go to http://www.qsindustries.com to get it - ALL infomation, not the subset you get int he loco manuals), but I could be wrong. You might also want to go to Yahoo and check out the QSI Group for more help. Pat Quinn himself participates.
