I am thinking of buying a Proto 2000 E6 with QSI Quantum Sound. I operate a conventional DC layout and use a Broadway Limited Sidekick to operate the bell and horn on my one Broadway Limited loco. Will the Proto 2000 E6’s horn or bell respond to the “Sidekick”?
I can’t say from experience as I’m DCC. But it should, since BLI also uses QSI sound decoders. If you’re not one of those guys completely against DCC, you might want to convert. It’s amazing to run the sound off of DCC instead of using the sidekick. Then you can control each engine one at a time instead of running them all at once.
Oh yeah–the P2K E6 has incredible sound, and I rally like the MARS light effect on the front. What road is yours? I have a Rock Island Rocket.
Hope this helps, but remember–it’s not coming from experience.

It should, but it might be better to go ahead and convert to full DCC.
I run DC for now and will make the full conversion in 2006.
You can do so much more with DCC. It is actually getting easier from a “CV” point of view. For example the PCM’s Reading T-1 came with a booklet that covered each of the 248 possible CV settings in addition to the usual manual and diagram.
I wonder if the desiel you are ordering will “Resist” moving when you advance the DC throttle. I once had a NW7 that did that.

Thanks for the replies. My road is B&O and the layout is a shelf in the garage that runs along two walls. I am not against DCC, and I will eventually convert to DCC.
Yer welcome.
I ordered a similar unit for LokSound locomotives like the Reading T-1 because the whistles etc will not work with DC. I should have it next week or soon after. (PCM is same as Broadway Limited)
I will always have DC but will have it on the workbench.
