Quantum equipped Broadway Limited

i just purchased a Broadway Limited Cab Forward with Quantum sound. i put it on the tracks and when i turn the power on the cab lights come on and i hear a noise but it will not move or make any sounds. can anyone help me ? thanks for any help, learnest

If it doesn’t start to move after 5 volts. it’s not working. Return purchase, or fix under terms of warantee and You’re out the shipping.

Don,
I have an MRC triple transformer Model 801. I don’t know how many volts it produces. Item is brand new out of the box. Any other suggestions before I go the return route?

I would say call or email BLI before you go to the trouble of shipping it back. It may be something simple? Several times I think I have broken one of my BLI Locos and I remember I turned it off with F9. Once I hit F6 its up and running. Not sure about DC I only have DCC experience.

I am not familiar with that mumber, but if it is indeed a “Transformer” it is AC, and will not run your train, could damage it, and void the warrantee. MRC’s website cannot identify it either. I am wondering if this could be you problem?

This is the power pak I would reccomend for you engine. It can be had for $70 - $80 mail order. 30 watts (VA) is only 2.5 amps @ 12 volts.

Learnest - Well that just might be the problem. Read on the back of the unit and see what it says about DC volts/AC Volts. Read the paper work over that came with it make sure you have it hooked up to the DC jacks and not the AC assessory jacks. I would recommend you not put the loco on the track again until you figure this out. It would be a pity if you smoked such a nice engine.

How many amps does it put out?, the bachmann trainset controller on my workbench won’t run my broadway locos either, but starts the sounds, and they run fine on my bigger layout controllers. I think they only put out about 1/2 an amp and broadway are a bit current heavy on startup, My DCC programmer also has a higher output to compensate for this.
Try a bigger controller!
