Quantum sound systems - are they any good?

I am new to the sound and DCC systems. I see a lot of steam engines with “Quantum sound system with dual speakers” on ebay, I was wondering if any one has one and what they think of it. I know I should not even be thinking of buying one of these things yet (as my layout has not been compleated yet). But I have seen some of your cut scenes on this forum - and they look and sound so fantastic. Like I said, I see these on ebay and it takes a lot of willpower not to buy one. I just want to know more about them first. I have learned alot from you guys and hope to learn alot more.
Thanks, ennout [:)]

I have a BLI Santa Fe #3751 with Quantum sound. I LOVE it! The volume as set from the factory was a little loud, but it’s very easy to turn down. Although the “chuff” sound is a little off (according to the product review in Model Railroader), I still enjoy the sound of the whistle and bell as I pull into the station.

I am quite pleased with Quantum sounds. I own Atlas Gold series and BLI, and either way is a great choice.

My BLI is wonderful and I use DC. Should be better when I go DCC. When the sound gets to be too much I run a different engine.

Thanks guys,
Now I feel a lot better of letting go of the money to buy a train with this system.

The proto 2000 is good too.

If I’m not mistaken, if you go to Broadway Limited’s website, you can hear what one actually sounds like.
