This whole dossier is a real mess. A case of push comes to shove with SCFG’s filing for yet more infrastructure funds ?
The recent changes in government at the provincial level complicates things. Then the feds through Via Rail irritates residents with conflicting statements. Claiming that service interruptions are temporary. But refuses to provide an interim connecting bus as they’ve done before.
With all the conflicting figures and finger pointing they should all be locked into a room. Opened only when they have an agreement everyone can live with.
Les Gaspésiens deserve better than what they getting now.
Sad to see the end of this historic and scenic railway line. Unfortunately I never got to ride on it although my grandfather helped to raise it to Canadian National standards after CN acquired it in the 1920s. It also played an important role in the history of Quebec since a scandal concerning its construction was the reason, or at least the pretext, for the fall of the nationalist Mercier government in 1891.
