Quebec to fund feasibility study for proposed iron ore line

Interesting development in light of the traffic snarls and capacity issues that have created political footballs in Canada and the U.S. It will be interesting how this additional traffic will be dealt with considering the shippers persistant complaints that already exist. Sort of potential blessing and \ or curse in the same gift box.

The lines are isolated. Originally the Quebec retirement fund wanted to build a 3rd line. The new study apparently will consider upgrading the present lines.

I believe all the ore lines terminating at the Sept Iles ore dock are isolated from the rest of the North American rail network.

Mr. Duensing, You do realist that this is an isolated area and may not connect with any of the southern Railways. That is, it may only connect with the Cartier and/or QNS&L.

This is a remote railroad that has an excellent port on the St Lawrence, which is still 300+ miles North of the Maine Northern Railway. They have their own challenges with frost IN northern Quebec. This could help keep some industry alive…
