Question: A really good web site for railway routes

I am trying to find the junction route from Springhill to Parrsbough, Nova Scotia, Canada in the 1950’s for the Cumberland Rail & Coal Company…I believe there was a main route from Montreal to Halifax with a junction from Springhill to Parrsbough which brough empty coal cars to Springhill and they were filled and shipped to Parrsbough where they were loaded on a ship and then lumber was hauled back from Parrsbough to the main route, but I am having a little trouble finding maps of the route, does anyone know where to start[?]

I thought I would throw some pics of the coal industry in Springhill in the early 1900’s.

Does anyone know what kind of train this is[?]

Have you tried the aerial photo option on Google Maps or MSN Maps Live? It’s amazing how many ancient railway rights of way are still apparent as scars on the landscape when viewed from the sky.

I never thought of that…I will let you know how I make out

Unfortunately Google only brings me to 2000 feet & then there isn’t any images after that…pretty hard to pick out all the railline although I did identify some of it

Doing a wikki search of a particular line usually brings up a map of the trackage they ran. I’m shocked at how much historical train info wikki has.
