| I’m interested in obtaining some models of the 60 foot PS-1 boxcars. What type loads were transported in this type of car? I’m pretty sure they hauled auto parts, but what other type loads would they haul? All information will be app |

I don’t have all my data with me, but some of the 60’ PS Cars also hauled copper ingots on the GN and the Western Maryland and L&N used theirs for hauling paper. Many 60’ cars were also used for hauling appliances, but these were the excess height cars that were much taller than the PS cars. The PS cars were not called the Fisher Body Cars for no reason.

I got home and checked my reference materials on the 60’ PS Cars. The Western Maryland cars were ACF cars, they did not have any PS cars. The GN cars were also used for appliances and paper loading along with SCL, NP and CB&Q cars.

I noticed you are a Frisco Modeler, the Frisco did not have any 60’ PS cars, the only auto parts cars they had were Greenville and Thrall cars, set up for Ford Auto Parts service. The Greenville car can be modeled with the Con-Cor Car and can be modified by removing the rivets and changing the sill to model the Thrall car.
