My name is Julie. My husband is a model railroader. I hope I’m asking this in the right forum. My question is this. For christmas I ordered him some things from an internet site called “internet trains.com” and haven’t received them yet. I ordered the items on December 13, they took the money out of our account on December 14. I’ve yet to hear anything about the order. Every time I call them, I get a message machine that says “please do not leave any messages” and the mail box is full. I’ve not received a confirmation that it’s even shipped. All I’ve received is a confirmation that they’ve received my order. I’ve emailed them and have gotten no responses. Christmas has now come and gone and I’ve still not gotten what I ordered for him.
Has anyone had any problems with this site before - or is it normal to wait so long for an order? Any help/advise would sure be appreciated. Thanks!
Sure this is a good place. It’s probably about the best concentration of knowledge.
I’m not familiar with that company, and although it not good business to have no contact with your customers, it is possible that they are just overwhelmed with Christmas and can’t keep up.
[#welcome] to the forum. You might like to take a look at this topic thread on the company you’ve ordered from http://www.trains.com/TRC/CS/forums/982935/ShowPost.aspx (I gather you’re not the only one whose going to be in for a long wait for goods to arrive this Christmas).
I have ordered from them before, most times I got my stuff semi-quickly. They are known as being sloooowwww. Some people have had problems getting their items. I haven’t , but like I said slooowww.
This is one reason I support my local train shop. Put the money on the counter and walk out with what you wanted. Of coarse this also means I may oay a bit more for items and they don’t always have what I want.
I suggest you make small purchases to get a feel for the company and thier timelines then maybe rely on them for Christmas or birthday gifts. I don’t know about Internet Trains but there are some, probably most, online companies that don’t ship partial orders. So they may be waiting for an item to ship the rest.
Last year she had a picture of the item wrapped and ready when shortly after ordering she found the item and had to pay more , but walked out of the store with it.
You may want to consult the “Credit Card” police about the policy of charging for an item that has not been shipped. I believe that most credit card agreements stipulate that merchandise may not be billed until it has been “delivered” i.e. shipped, because of potential conflicts of having to pay interest on the account for merchandise not received by the chargee. After consulting your credit card company, you may want to E-Mail the vendor again about your intention to pursue disputing the charges against account unless you receive an “appropriate answer” to your questions about “your merchandise”, if only to “get their attention”.
Best of luck on a belated but none the less Merry Christmas.
I have also had very slow service from them, I don’t think they have ANYTHING in stock, what they do is order items as the recieve orders from customers. It took 45 days for them to fill my order. I’ve never used them again.
Call them. I did and when you get somebody live you can actually figure out what’s going on.[yeah] Remember who you talk to so you can talk to them again if you call them again.
Do you have a different # - the one I am calling - all i get is the answering machine with recording that they don’t accept messages - which it’s full anyway. I’ve got it on automatic redial - and still can’t get thru! [banghead]
ok…well after I about wore my automatic redial out on my phone…i finally got thru to them. He informed me that my order is there - in they’re warehouse, but has not been shipped because they are so backed up. The guy I talked to (Dennis) said they’ll upgrade my shipping and it should go out this week. I’ll keep you guys informed. Thanks for all your help. [bow] [;)]
Nice. Too bad he’s not computer savy. There’s a lot of sage advice as well as cheerleading going on here. Some of the people who post here are the people who publish articles in the magazines. If there is a question about doing something or creating a good effect, there’s someone who’s not only done it, but they’ve worked out the short-cuts.
Have him stop by for a look see. You can do his typing if you want.
Very nice indeed. I hope you work on the layout together. You are more than welcome to be his “computer Geek” as there is a wealth of help and information (and sometimes a little aggravation) here.
The layout looks very nice, and I think it is great for you to support his interest in the hobby. The bench work is terrific. The only helpful advice I might suggest, is to blend together the places where the scenery changes… as against abrupt changes in color or texture. But I tell you, many, many would like to be as far as long as he is, and had as good results. Keep up the nice work and have fun. Hal
I ordered some rails from the same place, it took more than a month before they shipped it, and only after I called them twice. When I ordered I was careful to only order items in stock, yet, after one week it showed some of the items processed while other items were pending.
I then called them (after 2 weeks) and asked them what was going on, and I was told that it would be shipped the coming monday (called friday), the following friday one item still showed as pending, so I called them again, this time asked them to either send what they had and send the remaining item when the got it (of course with no extra charge to me) or cancel my entire order. The next day I received a confirmation email that the items (except for the one) had been send, and 3 days later I received it.
When I asked them of why they had charged my creditcard the same day as I placed the order, and not at the time they actually shipped it, the answer was “well that is how we do it”.
But in the end I did receive what I ordered (still execpt for the one item) - it just required a lot of patience.
