Question About Arizona Rail Fanning.

Howdy all.
I live in Phoenix Arizona and do a fair amount of railfanning. I know quite abit about the UP line coming into Phoenix, since I live with a few miles of it. But I wanted to know more about the BNSF line that comes down from the Trans-Con out of Williams. I belive it is called the Peavine line? Does anyone know how often they run that line? daily? weekely? Any info would be great.

I recently drove most of line following SR 89 and foudn quite a bit of places to watch, even some of the bridges from the original line, but it was Saturday and I never saw a train. And help would be great. Love to catch some action on that.[:D]

Thanks
John K

P.S. I am always looking for local rail fans. Either the real thing, or in the hobby end of it (HO) to meet up with.

Hi John,
Havn’t seen you in here in a while. Hows it going? I haven’t done much railfanning on the Peavine but I heard there is more traffic then on the UP line to Pheonix. And whenever I am in Williams I always see a few on that line in Williams. There is also the Arizona & California that runs from Cadiz,Ca. to Wikenburg (I think) that runs a round trip daily.

John K:

Usually 6 trains per day plus the Glendale switcher.

Hey thanks guys. I guess just caught it on a slow day[banghead]. Even when I got up to the BNSF Trans Con, it was pretty slow, only saw one EB train in 2 hours, and only 4 W B.

And Mud, you are right about the switching. That sectiuon of rail runs along Grand Avenue. ALOT of inudustry aong there. I see a couple of GP 30’s along with some Uboats. Left over of the Santa Fe days. . I am sure they have more depending on the work load.

Chad, life has been good. Been busy with work and my mini-train empire in the gagrage. Havent had much time to get on here. But with the new year, I am getting more freetime so hopefully, i wont be such a stranger. Guess you have been busy. Last time I saw you you had 3 or 4 stars[:p]. Hope you had a great Thanksgiving. [:D]Hope all is well.

Best Regards
John
