Question about Demar Electronics

Demar Electronics has been mentioned a number of times in these forums as a good place to get electrical parts, and at reasonable prices. I went to their website to place an order and a window containing this message popped up: http://www.subjex.net/csrserv/SubjexCSRServlet?licensee=DEMARELECTRONICS712&tid=1 “This account has been disabled.” (That’s not a clickable link even though is displays as such.) Being naturally cautious (paranoid?) when it comes to computers and my money, I didn’t want to proceed. I also noticed that they still have their “temporary order form.”

Does anyone know what’s going on here, or what that message means? Is it safe to order from them? Thanks.

I don’t know where you got that URL you listed, but it seems to just be out-of-date. When I typed Demar Electronics into Google their normal web site opened right up from the first link that was listed.

The current URL is http://www.demarelectronics.com/

It’s not really a URL. It was in the header of the window that popped up when I accessed the site via www.demarelectronics.com. If you didn’t get that window popping up, I wonder why I did. I’ll have to ask some of my friends to access their site and see if they get the window popping up with that message.

I’ve seen that before. I think it’s just poor web page work. As I recall, they don’t use a modern “shopping basket” package for their on-line ordering, but rather a form where you have to manually enter part numbers, descriptions and prices.

I’ve ordered from them, though, and I’ve had no problems. Items were shipped promptly, the orders were complete and everything was good quality.

I asked a few friends to access the site, and the ones who didn’t have a pop-up blocker got the message. MisterBeasley, it looks like you are right about the quality of their web site. My son, who is a part-time web designer, had this to say about it:

The popup seems to be from an outside source, http://www.subjex.net/. Perhaps
they had an advertising deal with them, and their account with subjex.net is
now disabled. The code to make a popup is still there, but the subjex.net
server won’t let them put an ad (or whatever it was) there because their
account is disabled. Purely hypothesizing, but plausible.

I see this happen so many times, companies forgetting to update things like
that regularly, leading to lots of old information.

I think he’s itching to get their business and give them a proper web site. [:D] Since you say you’ve had no problems ordering from them, I’ll go ahead and place an order. They’re the only ones who have what I want at a decent price. Thanks for the input.
