I just purchased my first Fast Tracks Jig and construction materials (still waiting for them to arive). Does anybody know if its possible to lay one stock rail and build turnouts along it using the fast tracks jig?
(I’m pretty sure there was a thread about this recently, I tried to find it but couldn’t seem to locate it)
If you are asking about building something like a yard ladder, then it is possible, but something I would classify as difficult. You’ll need to know exactly where the next turnout will start. Consider that if you are off by even a fraction of an inch there is no way to correct it once the turnout ladder is built. The other issue would be the spacing between turnouts and the ability to fit everything in the jig without the previously constructed turnout ( and its pc ties) being in the way.
Yup. No problem. It wasn’t that complicated to do, note I’ve only been in the hobby a little over two years. Just figure out your spacing, and be consistent.
Operationally, it works great.
Here are way too many pictures of mine at various stages throughout the build. Note these are all along the same single stock rail.
You can’t do code 100 in an 83 code jig as the base size of the rail is not the same. You can do code 70 in an 83 jig as the base size of the rail is identical.
However, I’m sure after you’ve cranked out a few turnouts, you can do code 100 freehand, if you really want to.
