I know there’s many components to a DCC setup…but is something like this all I’d need (other than a DCC-equipped loco)?

Thanks in advance…

that should do it you need a power supply a throttle a booster/comand stationand a decorder equiped engine
If I were you, I would first read a book. Kalmbach has a couple of good ones out. A book will help you get familiar with the terminology and give you a general idea of how things go together. Then I would see if you can find someone (at a local club or hobby shop) that you can talk to who is familiar with DCC. When I got started, my local hobby shop got me started with my first loco and helped me with programming it. Then, when you’ve seen it done once, installing a decoder and setting up your next locomotive is very straight-forward and WELL worth the effort. DCC is the best thing to happen to the hobby in many a year!
I have recently installed a Digitrax Zephyr unit on my 16 X 8 HO basement layout. This is all the basic set-up you need, other than decoders for each loco you want to be DCC equipped. The Zephyr is a selfcontained unit! It is a throttle, a booster to 5 amps capy., I believe. It has the keyboard for programing, everything you need, to get started.
I am very happy with my Zephyr and highly recommend it!
