Question about Lionel Hogwarts Express

Is Lionel or MTH ever going to come out with this in Scale? Also, look at this http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&rlz=1G1GGLQ_ENUS360&q=harry+potter+and+the+deathly+hallows+3d&aq=f&aqi=&oq= I hope this isn’t true. I want it to be 2D not 3D.

No doubt it will be in both, like all the other recent 3D offerings.

The new 3D is not like the old 3D. You don’t have the double vison effect of the red and blue like the old days.

I operate a 3-D theater in my museum. We are converting from the polarized type that is seen in movies today back to the red cyan Anaglyph. If the glasses are properly matched to the film there is no double vision and the Anaglyph method is simpler, no need for duplicate projectors and polarizing filters. So you get a better, sharper and brighter image on the screen. If you have ever seen a polarized 3-D show where the two images were not properly synchronized you get a massive headache. The new stuff being released in the theaters is very good. I went to see Christmas Carol and it was specatcular. Avatar was just ok. I would have liked to see Polar express in 3-D.

Tom … I doubt lionel will bring it out in any other … they’re selling like hotcakes as they are and lionel will probably bring out different engines altogether instead .

I thought I read that the diecast locomotive in the current set is in scale, just not 1:48. It’s off a little, like 1:50? This is a good question, because they basically did a scale version of the PolEx now, right? With the Pere Marquette? I thought they released a scale PolEx tender for that too.

Yea they may bring out a different version … but not called hogwart’s … I saw a few rumors one with th****e looks and design of the european engine it was designed after was in the works … knowing lionel … probably close to the the same engine … just different road name … cosmetic pieces and paint scheme .

I believe it’s actually the other direction, and closer to 1/43 than 1/48. This means that it’s actually slightly larger than normal O scale.

The reasoning behind doing this is that most European prototypes are significantly smaller than their US equivalent. Even at 1/43, the Lionel model is still on the small side next to their US equivalent. When the Flying Scotsman(which was one of the larger British engines) visited the US, there were photos taken along side US equipment. The US equipment dwarfed the Scotsman.

So, the short answer is that you probably don’t want a 1/48 Hall class.
