I use Outlook Express for my E-mail. When someone sends me a PM it comes through my E-mail inbox. I recently got a couple replies to PM’s I sent well over a month ago. The people said they should check their PM box more often or the forum should notify them when they have messages. Don’t you all get your PM’s through your E-mail like I do?[%-)]

I get notices in email when someone writes a PM. Usually these PMs are counter productive and I disabled that option.
I dont check PMs very often. Maybe once a month or two.
How and where do you check for PM’s?
I also get a notification in my e-mail when I get a PM. MOJAX, Look at the top of the page when you login and you will see list of items you can click on, click on the one that says “Private Messages” and you will go th your PM file. Mike
I’ll go one further, what is a PM: Program Manager, Project Manager, Priority Mail, Personal Message, Portly Maiden? So I guess I’ve never checked mine… [:D]
Private Message. The box down at the lower left of each post. For sending a member a personal message.
I have to thank Jeff [bow]for getting me straight on PM’s. Before last week, I didn’t know how to write them, only receive and reply to them. That little pm button is mostly hidden and very inconspicuous.
A private message is hosted entirely by this site. It appears as a forum text box, just like this one, but is only accessible to you and the person who sent it. So you must be logged in. Try dumping all your cookies and stuff, then try to send an email or pm, and worse, to read one sent to you, and you will soon learn that you must be logged in.
So, as with the others, I always get a notification that includes a blue link. Click on the link, and you get the same type of page with shading and everything as you see here. With email, though, you get a regular email in Outlook Express.
I have e-mail notification turned off in my account here. I was getting an e-mail everytime someone replied to any thread that I had replyed to. Got real annoying… (spam, spam, spam, spam…) Therefore I have to remember to check my PMs every month or so… Across the street they have a pop up window that tells you you have a message. Much nicer.
I don’t recall seeing or turning on any kind of E-mail notification button. I don’t get any kind of pop up that says I have a PM. I just check my mail a couple times a day.
Go to your account. (click on your name where it says “Welcome Back”). In your personal settings page go all the way to the bottom of the page the very last question is: Enable Email Notifications of replies to your posts. You can turn it on or off. I believe it is on by default.
Add the pile of irrevelant “Get a life!” messages. They get sent to spam filters as well.
Likewise. I also have the eMail notifications turned off. For EVERY board i visit. Sometimes I forget to check for PM’s for a few weeks. Probably due to oxygen starvation from not wearing my O2 bottle all of the time, but that’s another story…
