Question about this engine.

The question: What needs to be put together on it, or does it mostly come together? I am sure the handrails don’t but I mean more like the lights, windshield whipers, etc. I don’t wanna spend a month putting it together. If its certain pieces thats fine, that will give me a chance to weather it.

I REALLY like this one. I love how it looks when its weathered and a good looking used look. Now, I looked at them at M.B Klein, and they are sold out. This ones on Ebay, which he has 2 right now. I’m not worried about the money. That will help me out. Each $50 you spend at this grocery store you get 10 cents off a gallon. Heck thats 30 cents off, when I buy 3 gift cards for Ebay from them. Thats the good thing.

Why not email the seller and ask him? It looks as though it’s complete ready to run except in DCC. In his description he sends the decoder and you must remove the shell and just plug it in, not a big problem.

I don’t know much about modern Diesels, only the old Athearn and Mantua jobs that I sold in my store in the '70s and '80s, but it appears to me that the photo is of the engine just the way it comes out of the box. I deduce from the rest of the description that there’s a DCC unit with it, ready to be plugged in, but if you’re still running on DC, put it aside for the time when you decide to go digital.

I’m sure others will know more about this loco and will let you know. HAPPY RAILROADING!

A Blueline loco is assembled and RTR. There is a pretty good review of the AC6000 online at Model Railroader. From the box, the sound decoder is set to run on DC. You need to add a motor decoder. The unit has a standard NMRA eight pin plug under the fan housing. You DO NOT have to remove the whole shell to install a motor decoder, the top of the fan housing pops off and allows access to the DCC pin.

I think the price is a bit steep, I got mine new when they first came out for 99.95. Then again they could be sold out. I would suggest you check Train World and a couple of other online shops for availability and pricing. It might be worth waiting (I know a bad word) for a second run.

Thanks alot guys. I went on and got this one. He said its pretty much together. Like I said, the price will help me gas wise. Other websites I did find them, but were sold out, or were more money. I am sure I will be happy with this one.

According to the review, it ran about 139. So 149 isn’t bad.
