Forgive a newbie if this has been covered…I’ve been reading that UP developed a El Paso service unit, but I can’t find any info on it. Did they actually create this unit or was it created then cut up into the Tucson Service unit and the San Antionio Service Unit.
And what Subs are in them now.If El Paso is new it should only have like 3-4 subdivisions and that doesn’t seem logical. However with the Sunset tracking going on maybe this is wise.
Any knowledge would be helpful Thanx.
I haven’t work down there in a while, but I believe the Lordsburg Sub. is part of the El Paso Service unit.
There currently is no El Paso Service Unit. It was combined with the Tucson Service Unit to form the new Sunset Service Unit last year.

Like I said, I haven’t worked there in awhile.[:$]
Thanks Jeff & Pigfarmer
That came up on internet searches and I KNOW how reliable the 'net is!
So there would be 20 service units according to my count?
I’m not really clueless I started my own records and I’d just like to be in the ballpark.
Remember that Service Units don’t necessarily following subdivision boundaries. It is possible for a subdivision to be in two or three Service Units. For example, the Yuma Sub may have the majority of its length in the Los Angeles Service Unit but the eastern 10 miles from say Araz to Yuma could be part of the Tucson Service Unit (now the Sunset Service Unit). This is way the UP Employee Timetables are called “AREAS” and no SERVICE UNITS. For example, the Los Angelea Area ETT covers the subdivisions in the area, but could cover trackage officially in other SU’s and vice versa.
