I’m going to be building a large CGW shop. Anyway, I was thinking of using Walthers modulars. I need panels with a door that I can run a track inside, but here’s the catch- it only need to be 2 ‘sections’ high, wheras the modular wall w/ door is 4 sections high. Can I make the large wall only 2 sections high? I assume these modulars can be made into anything, right?
Thanks a bunch[:)]
Yes, worst case you have to get out your razor saw and do some cutting.
If you are talking about HO, the wall sections of Walthers modulers are only one story high. The large walls are two sections wide while the small walls are only one section wide. You can stack them as high as you want. Unless they have come out with a new product, there are no doors which are big enough to run a train through so you will have to customize a large doorway for that.
I used DPM modulars, they have sections with high openings for loco/cars etc. See SP shop on my layout. , Ended up making mine 3 sections high to look more massive and have high clearance for the crane inside.

so you’re telling me that the door in the link I posted isn’t large enough to get a train in there?
dingoix, on the Walther site it does say the door is big enough to clear ho railcars. So that should be enough to clear a loco.

I thought that HO cars/locos would fit. Thanks everybody! one of these days I’ll order some walls and start building!
BTW, worst case scenario, I’ll get a saw and cut them if the doors are too small.
You are going to find the walls a bit expensive on the modulars.
Plan your work carefully.
