Question about Woodland Scenics Snow

Have any of you used this on your layout? My only concern is that it could get into the gears or other areas of the locomotive. I plan to sprinkle it on my layout, then vaccum it up after the holidays. I read the snow article in the December CTT but I don’t think this area was covered.

Doug,

I have used Dept 56 snow and it plays havoc with pickup rollers, so I advise you to keep it off your track or make sure there is none on your rails.

The particulate manner of the snow causes arcing and pitting of the rollers and it is a pain to clean off and to get the roller buffed out.

So make sure you use it in an environment where it will stay put. I have done the same thing you are planning. It vacuums well when you are ready to remove it. Just watch out for loose items or those small details that fall in the snow.

Regards,
Roy

I use it on my village. I use realtrack so it’s not near the train. I also glue it down with white glue spray. [;)]
