Edit, Ok, after thinking about it all night long I thought that the picture I had posted wasnt a very good idea, so it is gone.I was thinking about using dryer lint as a base to glue ground foam or something too ,thinking it might look like a tree but that after serious thought was a bad idea.

this is the first of many filter trees that need improvement instead
Well, that is the best tree you have shown us yet, though not the best you will ever do. It looks like “filter on a stick” approach. I would have three suggestions:
-
The filter sections need to be closer together. After you make a hundred of these you will get the feel for what you like.
-
When the trunk shows this much, it needs to be brown or gray or reddish, depending on the species. For larger trees you need to carve bark onto the trunk and paint hi-lights for effect.
-
I would use less flock or foam or static grass whatever you used.
These trees can be made quickly and very inexpensively. I assume you have been following the other posts and we welcome you to the circle of tree makers.
THanks for the comment you have given this was a 4 min test to see what ideas would be brought up, This is made from a broken stick( twig) and the material is dryer lint( YES) dryer lint from my clothes dryer, sprayed with adhesive and sprinkled with ground foam. This was a quick test to see what would be said about using lint and the thoughts,
As for the other trees I have used aggro’s ,and your tutorial to great extent and thanks you for the guidance , I have about a zillion more of those to make but they are improving.
THanks again.

Don’t know about lint. That sounds like the hard way, but I learn something new every day. When Lynn Wescott started with some of his strange ideas, people wondered, but they sure did work. Your filter tree looks pretty good. The nice thing about needing a couple hundred of these, is that you refine your skills. Lets see some more pics.
Thanks Art, Just need a alternative for making different trees. all I have here is a wal mart so ,my shopping choices are limited unless I drive a long distance or buy online which is ok, but there are downsides to that.Oh, well the thought was there ,and it seemed like it might be a possibility, I might just work on one and see how it turns out for fun just to see if it is worth the time and effort or not.
Thanks again
