Question: Anyone buy the new Ricko 1-87 model vehicles yet.

Walthers shows 2 currently available (the 1931 Lincoln for $13 on sale and the 2007 Dodge Caliber for $10 on sale) and more to come this month - judging from the Walthers images, while the Dodge Caliber almost looks like one of the Model Power Mini models (except for being an Contemporary American 4 Door Vehcile Not Endless released by every other model manufacturer!!!), the Lincoln looks frighteningly museum quality.

OK, I could use the Dodge (and a number of their other contemporary vehicles like the PT Cruiser, the Cadillac Escalade, and the Crossfile) and I don’t need the 1931 Lincoln, but what are the impressions from those who have either one?

(Yes, I am familar with the 1-87 vehicles modeler’s website, and the yahoo group which is where I learned about this company in the first place - I’d like the model railroader kinda viewpoint)

While I don’t currently own any, will definitely be getting the Dodge caliber in the future. And from what I can see, they look to be better detailed than the model power minis (head, tail lights, better looking windows). I just hope they don’t have the little block molded into the underbody for the display base- it sorta detracts from the overall look when viewing the car from eye level, one of my pet peeves…

Several Calibers, some PT’s, a model power Viper would make a nice Dodge dealership!

If this crosses the line of promotion, someone let me know, but I have two of those cars, the '55 Mercedes-Benz and the Caliber in stock here in my store and indeed they are VERY nice. When you see one up close you will notice how they are much better than the Model Power cars or whatever we are calling the 1.67 cars at Wal-Mart.

One of my customers bought a Caliber and flipped over it! He was very excited. He cannot wait for all the other models, mostly the Dodge Charger police cars. BTW, I checked Monday and most of these Ricko cars were supposed to be out this month - now they are saying September. And so it goes.

Are they worth the money? That’s always a tough one to answer. But they are nice, and you are correct when you mention that the '31 Lincoln is of museum quality. I’ve seen photos of it and can’t wait to see it when it arrives. Hard to tell without opening one up, but these do have some sort of different method of being fastened to the base unlike the Model Power cars…that’s a pet peeve of mine too. Hope that answers your question about them.

The Caliber and Lincoln are secured to their display bases by two different methods. The Caliber has a plastic clip that locks the wheels down. The Lincoln has a 2-piece spring clip that keeps it attached. When the clips are removed, there are no “danglies” as with the HighSpeed/Model Power/Schuco/Malibu International models. Incidentally, Ricko models are not diecast, they are injection-molded ABS plastic.

The Lincoln is a beautful model that you really need to see in person.
