question: bought myself an engine.........

Gents

I have bought myself an N-scale Lifelike/Proto PA/PB both powered with a 5-pole skewed armature, eight wheel drive, eight wheel elec. pick-up and dual mach. brass flywheels.

It is a very neat looking pair, and I am pleased to have bought them.[:)] (see pics at bottom)

I knew it was DC and want to convert them both to DCC so I problable have to make room for it in the weight of the engine.

But I need a little help in this case in choosing the right (sound)decoder(s) prefarable sound and how to built this into the engine(s) both the A and B unit have the same armature(weight)

I have a little experience, I built one in a steam-engine with a pre-cut opening in the boiler-weight.

?? Is there anybody who did this already ??

So I welcom any advice or ideas to achive this.

Yipes. I am not familiar with this specific unit but I am guessing you will have to mill the top weights to fit in the decoder, and mill the fuel tank for the speaker.

You know PCM already makes PA & Bs with sound built in.

Yes I did, but they don’t have a UP set and I am somewhat hungup on them.

And I bought this Proto/Lifelike engine a lot cheaper at MB Klein (without dcc) but I didn’t realize the B-unit was motorized.

So I am trying to find a way to leave the motor in the B-unit.
