question concerning pax car colors.

I have the mdc roundhouse overton coach set. It is pretty much done for an excursion train with the combo car set up as a kitchen snack car, luggage car as a photo platform and bike storage. The other two coaches have seats ready to go in. Unfortunately I am struggling on color for the cars. Would the line match them to the road colors or paint them to whatever they wanted. Right now they have black frames and black roofs. These are the 40’ coaches. Any pics of stuff you have riden on will be a +

Thanks

Mike

If it’s for modern excursion use, it could be painted anything. The worst days of bright fakey looking colors and “Old West” style lettering has thankfully been over for some time - for the most part.

When in doubt of course, real passenger cars were Pullman Green for about 60 years or more.

In the 19th century, before Pullman Green became standard, many passenger cars were painted a straw yellow, kinda like “Depot Buff”.

Paint them like this, and everyone will think you’re brilliant.

What color is that? Maroon or dark red?

If it is an excursion train, then if your railroad is dedicated to providing a quality train, then they would most likely be all the same color from your railroad. If your railroad could care less about an excursion train, then nearly every car would be rented from a different railroad. If it is a full on tourist railroad, then they would be much older and lower quality.
