so i got a question i bought a engine and i look at the picture kinda looks i dont know corny? anyhow do you think the real engine will look better then this picture when it arrives?
Thatâs a lot better than the typical cheap diesel â the only thing is that the SD70-like carbody doesnât match the âcompressedâ SD40-style side frames. (IIRC there were trucks this style with short wheelbase from Canada, but not on later SD locomotives).
Depending on how the drive is made, you could move the trucks outboard to more prototypical spacing (increasing the coupler swing) and make a more proportional fuel tank in that space. You could also cut-n-paste parts of a HTCR sideframe to get something that would fit, and then cast, or scan and 3D-print, a set that would fit on the trucks in place of the FlexicoilsâŚ
I canât really disagree on it looking âcornyâ, but I think itâs not too different in many respects from my Lionel SD18. I just think that cramming six axles under a locomotive sized (approximately) for four just looks both cute & silly. I suppose that your loco is a product of MTH.
Hereâs the SD18; they do look kind of similar in style.
thats not bad the picture i posted i think is just bad looking cause it seems to be a stock photo right now im waiting on the seller to send the engine
I canât disagree; stock photos are sometimes rather low quality with a lot of items. Plus, I suspect that the side-view accentuates the compressed nature of the locomotive. Did the seller say how big the locomotive was supposed to be? A scale model of an SD70M (which this isnât) would be about 18â " long. For comparison, my SD18 is about 14" (or so) long while a scale model would be a tiny bit more than 15". My guess is that your locomotive is also about 14" or likely even smaller. I hope that it turns out to be a good locomotive (corny or not!).
welll i got her in today and also she quit running either locked me out or locked into neutral have no idea about as long as my F3 post war and about over 4 pounds im just trying to get her running now
I hope it works outâŚ
yeah i hope so too this kinda set me a day behind on moving rock
Delays are horrid; especially when work needs to be done!
