Question: N Scale Life Like SW9 Drive Train

Reecently I sent out two Life Like SW9 locos for conversion to DCC. I may have never noticed it before, but now both of them are definately running on only the front truck. I pulled the cover on one loco and the drive train appears to be complete. They also don’t pull as well as they did before the conversion.

Are these switchers supposed to run on only the front truck?

I don’t think they only use one truck for power, Ken. I have two at home, but unfortunately, home is the east coast and I’m on the west and I probably won’t be back for about a month.

Hopefully someone who is within striking distance of one of these will be able to answer the question.

Thanks for your response. Not only do the rear wheel sets not turn under power, but they won’t turn at all! I think what I need is someone who can help me in repairing them.

Do you have the shells off? The trucks pretty much come right out if ya turn them with the shell off.See if the wheels on the trucks turn with them off.
