Question on digitally altering photographs

I have some pics of the family farm that I want to use to scratch build a scene.

Questions:

  1. What programs can I use to square them up and take the perspective out?

  2. Is there a way to adjust the size so when printed they will be correct for HO?

There are about 10 buildings on the diorama all in a different size in the pics because of perspective.

A freeware progam that I use is called the GIMP (Graphic Image Manipulation Program) it will do much of what the more expensive payware programs will. It should work for what you have in mind. Just google GIMP + image or something like that.

Also check out the current issue on MR for Lance Midheims article on how to take foreground shots and edit them.

Nothing beats Adobe Photoshop or its much more affordable sibling, Photoshop Elements.

I know for a fact that Photoshop can address both of your issues although adjusting extreme perspective on such an irregularly shaped object such as a building might turn out wonky.

Can you post the pics here so I can see and possibly advise?
