Question on Passche H with H3 Needle Setting

Does the butt of the needle assembly butt all the way up to the housing as indicated by the arrow here ?

Thanks

Yes it does. You adjust the amount of paint coming our by turning the tip cone #4. Part H is held in by the allen head screw #8. It is not really a needle, but the color adjusting part.

Thanks Bob, I’m new to airbrushing and that may have been my problem yesterday. That and the pressure at ~ 20. I was using PS acrylic with 50% PS thinner. Paint seemed to be eratic … would start flowing … then stop after a few strokes. I would have to open the needle and then paint would flow too much. Back off the needle again and all would be fine. Then, few strokes later, same thing happened.

Thanks again for the input.

Your problem might be with the thinner. If you check the paint bottle it says thin with water. Actually with an H3 you don’t really need any thinner. I am still trying to figure out what the PS thinner is supposed to do. All its ever done for me is clog the brush.

Acrylic paint straight from the bottle needs around 30 PSI to work. It varies, though, as different colors have different consistancies. Practice is about all that can be done, learn while you work.

I use 30-40 psi on mine. Are you sure the vent hole in your paint bottle isn’t getting blocked? PS will dry in the needle and cap pretty quick too. You might want to keep a seperate bottle of “thinner” near by to keep the brush clean.
