If this is way off topic, please feel free to move it to the appropriate location. Where is the best place to use for posting pics so I can out them up in my threads? I have Yahoo pics but all I can do is post a link. I want a place where I can post as a jpg, etc. A FREE place would be appreciated [:D]
i use shutterfly. its free and pretty simple. download pics to site. pick the picture you want to post, then right click on the picture, select properties in the grey box, then there will be an address there highlight the address, copy it, then go back to your post. you will need to put this in the box
[ i m g ] then paste the pic you copied here then place this right behind the copied pic [ / i m g ]
the part that is bold print does not need to be bold or have any spaces in it. the only reason i did it this way is to show you what to put in your post. if you have any problems private message me and i can help you more
Nope…Shutterfly is the same as Yahoo pictures. They only allow you to post a webpage for the pics…not a specific jpg address of the pic. That won’t work for posting pics here. Thanks for the effort though. [:)]
are you talking about posting pics like i did on my other post titled here goes. if thats what you are talking about well that works for me if thats not what you are talking about i tried hope someone else can help
thats what i used to get my pics posted on the forum. if you take the periods out if the [ i m g] and the period in the [ / i m g ] and it should work. the reason i say this is because thats how i post all of my pics. if you try to do it the way i say it should make sure the highlighted part of the address is right after to the [ i m g ] and the right before the [ / i m g ] there should be no spaces in any of it. if it doesnt work this time i dont know what to tell you. someone will be able to help you further. so try as i said do in the first reply i sent if you havent already. also did you download the pics from your computer as i did to shutterfly. when i place the highlighted address between the [ i m g] and [ / i m g ] then press enter hit preview and what you should see is the pic you are going to post
Posting pics from Shutterfly does work. That is where many of us post our pictures from. On the “Sunday Photo Fun” threads Tom normally has a link at the bottom of his threads to instructions for how to post from Shutterfly.
Here is an example of posting from my Shutterfly album:
This was done the following way:
logon to Shutterfly
In Shutterfly click on the picture so it displays in Shutterfly
Right click on the picture in Shutterfly and select “Properties”
A “Element Properties” box should appear that shows the location of the Shutterfly photo
Highlight that location in the “Element Properties” box and copy it to the Train forum in between [ img ] and [ /img ].
The image below was done using a method of “Cut and Paste”. (I can’t get true “cut and paste” to work with Firefox)
I did the following:
Clicked on the “image” button on the forum editor next to the smiley face
That opens a box where you can type in the http address for the picture.
That address is obtained by right clicking on the Shutterfly image and selecting “Copy Image Location”, and then going back to the forums image box and pressing CTRL-V to paste that address into the address bar.
This might be over kill, but last night I tried to post a photo from Shutterfly in response to a thread “does anybody use sand on their layout” or something like that. I have used Shutterfly in the past with success. I had not posted photos in a while so I went to the photo thread info on this site. The Information there had [img*] … [/img*] for the front and caboose of the … info. I used that format with the stars and the photo did not post. I took the stars out and it worked well. I sent an e-mail to the photo post thread writer on this site to advise the writer about that. No response yet. Cheers! [:)]
You will see things like [img*] or [ img ] used because if you do not include a spoiler in the code, such as an asterisk or a space, you can not type out the format. The forum software will interpret the text as code.
When one types [img*] [/img*] without the stars you get this:
It is unreadable because the forum software sees it as a code and tries to process it.
So to try and type this out in a thread so that someone can see what the proper form looks like, one has to include something in the formatting (like an asterisk, or a space) that prevents the forum software from seeing it as programming code and trying to process it.
