when i hit the reply button to post on a topic all of the pictures and etc. show up.how can i just reply to a person’s post and not have all of his or her’s pictures show up when i reply to that post ? look at canazar post (that’s how i roll) as an example, which at the moment is on the first page.thanks for any and all help.terry…

metalfrog,

When you hit the reply button, the forum software shows you the post to which you are responding; it doesn’t mean all of those pictures and text will show up in your reply. They will show up in your reply if you hit the Quote button instead.

IMHO the reason that all of the post you are replying to come up is to allow you to look at them as you compose your reply. YOU can see them, but they won’t be part of what you post.

What WILL be part of what you post is what appears in the closed box under the “Subject” and “Message” titles, with the toolbar at the top. If the post you are trying to reply to appears in that box, you have clicked “Quote” instead of “Reply” at the top of the original post.

If you want to quote someone else’s post, click “quote,” go down to the last bracketed “quote” in the box and go from there. If you only want to quote part of a post, you can go into the quoted text and delete the unwanted portion. You can also answer a quoted post point by point, by entering the bracketed “quote” and “slash-quote” with your comment between. This can be done as long as the original text holds out.

Fun, isn’t it!

am i a dummy or not? thanks don and chuck.

Keep in mind you can see what your post will look like before it is posted by clicking on the “preview” button. If you wish to add or change the message, click on the “edit” button. If not, click on the “post” button. Also a great way to check and see if photos included do indeed work.

Also note that any links you insert like www.dilbert.com will not work in “edit” mode, but they should work in “preview” mode. When I put in a link, I always preview-check it first to make sure I got it right. Also, if you put in a link, make sure you do NOT put punctuation after it. This will not work: Take a look at www.dilbert.com, because of the comma. Hey, wait a minute, it did work! They must have fixed that with the new forum software. Never mind.

thanks to all.learning a lot!
