I hope this is the right section.
I went out riding on US 52 and other little backroads from New Haven,KY to Loretto,KY. Along the way I saw what was once the old L&N Lebanon Branch. I’m just curious to as when it was abandoned, and when the trackage was ripped up. I know it’s been gone awhile.

CSX decided to abandon the line (other than the first 3 miles to Beams) during early 1988. May 1989 was when an agreement to sell the 17 miles to New Hope to KRM was made, and the sale went through on May 8, 1990. I’d guess the rest of the line was torn up during 1989 or 1990. There is a 3 page article on the KRM start up in the December 1990 Trains.
SimRacin40 you were on Kentucky 52, not U S 52. The U S Highway you refer to runs along the North side of the Ohio River. You can see trains there, but most of them are Norfolk Southern.

Thanks for the information.
Sorry about the road mixup. I’m better with rail lines anyway. [(-D]
