Hello,
I’m thinking about making some custom SP/UP patched AC4400s and SD40T-2s and ATSF/BNSF patched C44-9Ws. Does anyone know how to get the red to the faded color like the ATSF Superfleet red and SP Bloody nose?
Hello,
I’m thinking about making some custom SP/UP patched AC4400s and SD40T-2s and ATSF/BNSF patched C44-9Ws. Does anyone know how to get the red to the faded color like the ATSF Superfleet red and SP Bloody nose?
I’s just by the paint. You might also experiment with mixing paints with white or grey.
Lay in a one ounce bottle of Polly-S SP Scarlet, a one ounce bottle of Polly-S ATSF Red, a one half ounce bottle of Polly-S air/armor White, some one half ounce mixing bottles and an order of pipettes - eyedroppers for the uninitiated; I prefer glass which can be gotten at as diverse locations as Home Despot or medical supply houses.
Fill one of the your half ounce mixing bottles half full of color; using a marking pen mark the outside of the bottle as a reference to where you started so you can duplicate that point on subsequent mixings if necessary; grabbing one of those pipettes - eyedroppers for the uninitiated - add White one halting drop at a time. It does not take very much white to instill a change in the basic tint of a hue.
Thanks for the tips. For the former ATSF Yellowbonnets how do I remove the ATSF number and patch it like BNSF does?
You might be able to get away with an eraser, depending on who made and how they made the bonnet. ( I don’t remember)
