In the recently locked thread on a grade crossing accident, Murray, one of the regulars around here, used it to advertise another rail forum, that seemed to be anti-railfan, as a recurring part of his signature. I was under the impression we were to refrain from that sort of activity. Is that true, or are we likely to start having promotions and advertising as a regular feature? And was his command to the moderators the reason the thread was locked?
If you are so worried, Schlimm, then why not PM a mod instead of trying to start something? The mods won’t bite. I hear rumors that they are even real people…

You guys remind me of my 4 yr old niece tattling on her 7yr old sister…
[sigh]
Note: I do not support you 100%. I may support you 3%, but that’s because I’m feeling extra generous. Actually, Convict, your picture in your signature is annoying to scroll past in every thread.
I think that you’d be very hard pressed to find any attempt on my part to have a thread shut down. But, if someone else wants to complain when they could just as easily go on to read some other topic, then they themselves better have clean hands.
zug, et al.: I only asked two questions. One, I don’t know why that thread was locked, it certainly was not offensive, and obviously very popular, one of the most viewed and posted to in a long time: 237 posts and almost 3000 views in only six days. So why should I confine the question to a PM to a moderator? It seems to me that anyone in the group should be able to contribute, pro and con, as long as the personal insults are kept to a minimum, which they were. How is that tattling?
The other point was a question about advertising links here, and particularly a link to a site that is very ant-railfan. If Murray wants to have or belong to a site whose theme is hatred of railfans, fine, but why should that or any other outside site be included in his “signature?” You nay not like the sigs of Convicted One or others, but he isn’t advertising another website in his.
I think you are the one who started the drama with your snarky comments last night on the locked thread. Ironic that you should complain about off-topic threads.
