I haven’t been at this very long, so I have some very basic questions concerning Williams locos. All I have purchased so far has been Lionel products and to keep it polite I’ll just say I am less than satisfied with their locomotives.
My questions are:
Are the Williams locos Standard or Traditional O as defined by Lionel.
Can they be operated with a Lionel CW80 Transformer?
Will they operate on Lionel’s FasTrack, especially their switches without bouncing around and derailing?
Will they couple up properly with Lionel and K-Line cars?
What I’m looking for is a dependable locomotive that will work with all of this Lionel equipment that I have purchased, otherwise I’m ready to EBay and yard sale what I have to recoup as much of my money as I can and move on to a new hobby.
Actually, I think your Lionel/Williams query will get a lot more answers if you post it on the CLASSIC TOY TRAINS forum. There are probably a lot of knoweldgeable people there that can give you some good answers.
I cannot say that Williams Trains will run on three rail hook up,I believe they are like American Flyer(2) rail, some one correct me if Im wrong, but they sure beat Lionel all to pices as far as detail and looks… They are beautiful ! If I were an “O” gauger thats what I would run !
Lionel is over rated and over priced ! Theres too much other stuff out there now thats better than Lionel…[2c]
Williams trains are “traditional”, not scale. They are completely compatible with Lionel, K-Line, MTH products, and will work fine on FasTrack or any other 3 rail track system.
Oh, and they may or may not work 100% as advertised with a CW-80 transformer. Most people who have Williams say that it works fine. But some maker’s trains don’t always play nice with other maker’s transformers.
