Did some quick looking online and wasn’t able to find anything. I would really like an end of train flasher that was something simple and quick and didn’t involve modifying one specific car.
Ultimately something that was maybe magnetic that I could snap the EOT device onto my Kadee coupler and then double side tape or velcro a watch type battery under the car.
Anything like that out there? Most everything I’ve seen involves swapping trucks and installing something in the car itself? I’m wanting much simpler than that to make it work on any car in just a few minutes…
Nothing that I can think of would be in the formfactor necessary to look right – I mean, even the smallest of flashing circuits is going to be a few scale feet across…
I’ve done a lot of searching in the past, anything you have to rig up isn’t going to look prototypical, and the circuittry usually has to go inside of the car.
I saw the ring and the EOT device looks fairly prototypical. I just want something like that only perhaps I could use a flashing SMD LED and just power it with a small lithium watch battery with a resistor attached. Seems like it would be simple and easy enough.
Might have to break out the 3d printer and see what I can come up with. I don’t want to have to swap trucks or have it tied to one car. But I never have liked things easy lol!
I think that the “flashy” is usually controlled by an external source (although maybe a 1206 or larger LED package might have it – and 0.120" x 0.06 is approx 10x5 scale inches, so maybe it’d work out)
actually, thinking about it, maybe a unit that you can magnet to the bottom of the car, with the FRED being a fiber-optic in an appropriately-sized housing would work…
