quick photos of the Walthers Diesel Shop I built.

Well I stayed up till 12:30am working on this. I sprayed the flat white paint and flat black out in the garage now mind you it was 13 degrees F. I am surprized it stuck to the plastic. I painted the handrails and I strps on the side of the platforms with Polly Scale CNW Yellow. The flat colors are a spray can variety from Walmart $1.00 each can roughly. Hope you enjoy the pictures any comments appreciated. Lights will be installed later day.

Very nice! Thanks for sharing.[:D]

Beautiful detail. When I paint in the cold, I heat the spray can in hot water. I suppose you already know that seeing it worked so well for you. The issue is the viscosity of the spray, not the temp. A warm subject helps, but not necesary.

I wait for the hanging of the lights in that it is one of my current projects. Thanks for sharing.

Interior details come with the kit?!?!?

Very nice job indeed. I might have to trade in my car shop for this.

Unfortunately the only thing that comes with this is the railings and the roof exhaust stacks. I am picking up some Oil Barriels and figure set through walthers tomorrow, along with hanging lights the taks at hand is running power wire for the lights I have study this before I install them. I do appreciate everyones nice comments. Luckily I dont have to retire any car shop or back shop for having this due to the second level will also have more of diesel facility.I will post pictures as soon as I get them with lights.

VERY nice job on the Diesel Shop, Martin! [:)][tup]

Will you have to “dig out” a footprint so that the bottom of your tracks sit down flush with the top of the layout? I had to do that with my Walthers ash pit and the coal pit to my coaling tower.

Tom

I was wondering about that too, Tom. The shop looks great and it’ll be even better when the lights are in, with all those windows.

Thanks for showing the photos!

It looks really great! I"m wondering if the taller section has room for Walthers overhead crane?

Actually yes you will have dig out a section for the footprint luckily I’m using foam and this section hasnt been built yet so I can work around it using various foam thickness’

Oh yeah it does have room I was thinking of installing one myself in it not to hard to revamp it to fit. It even talks about it in the instructions.

[tup][tup] Looks really good! I like the way the black paint resembles diesel soot on the walls above the doors.

Martin,

I forgot to ask. I’m assuming you left the roof so that it’s detachable - i.e. unglued?

Tom

Tom,

Of course I never glue my roofs down and if I did it would be with white glue so all I would have to do is soak with some water or pry just a little and the roof will pop right off.

Don,

thank you I actually learned that from either it was a MR video I saw or read it in MR but I usually use an Airbrush but I dont have my new compressor even out of the box so I decided to give the spray can a try. Hold it about 6 inches away from the bottom spraying up and move in where the spray starts to collect on the area you want blackened.

Martin

Nice model, and nicely finished. Looks very realistic. I think structures like this make one’s modelling experience so much more pleasant and believable while trains are running. If you can run a locomotive into any of them for any reason, it’s that much better and more varied.

[tup][tup]great job!! Only one question, are the lace curtains prototypical?[:o)][bow]

Just cause they are in the shop doesnt mean they dont fancy linens lol
