Quick Ques. Re. Dash 8 vs Dash 9 HO models

I have several of those cheapie Bachmann Spectrum Dash 8 CWs and a Dash 9 CW that seems to be Athearn.

The Dash 9 is noticeably longer, (perhaps wider an taller) than the Bachmann Dash 8s.

Wikipedia has info only on the length of the Dash 8 in history (73 ft 2 in.)

Are the two Ho models correct in their different size? I suppose that makes sense if GE made improvements on the newer model.

According to this website

Dash 9
Height 15’ 4
Length 73’ 8
Width 10’
Power 4,400 hp
Weight 387,000 lbs.
Max. Speed 65 mph
Dash 8
Height 15’ 4.5
Length 70’ 8
Width 10’ 2.7
Power 4,000 hp
Weight 410,000 lbs.
Max. Speed 65 mph

You will find more detail specs here You will notice the different length in the rear of the fuel tank. Trucks are usually different as well

Thanks, RicHamilton and tatorsalad. Ric, What a great website…how did I not know about this? I am going to be spending some time looking around in there…great drawings for detail too. I had a questions about the length that couplers extended in F series locos as well. This really helps.
