Quicky Question regarding the Spectrum george Washington`

I found one at the Hobbytown a few weeks ago for 255, down from 510. Needless to say It’s on Layaway. It is DCCd, but I’d like to know if the engine is Sound capable like it’s non-set sister. Thanks!

I own it. And I love it.

However it is DCC Ready, not with DCC.

I had mine converted to a Tsunami decoder. However the conversion is a bit tricky in the Vanderbuilt tender.

There’s a screw at the top under the coal load holding the DCC board in place. (It’s hard to see) You will need to unscrew this to bring the board down. Then hook a Tsunami (or whatever to it) Getting the speaker to fit in there will be very tedious work. I recommend getting a speaker with a baffle and either pointing it downward with stragetically placed holes in the floor of the tender, or carefully glued under the coal load.

Good luck. That’s a great buy!

BTW: That’s the george washington in my avatar!

The George Washington went through several motive power iterations over the years.

If you find a plate, or linen someplace, grab it. They are worth a small fortune on eBay.

Cool. Thanks. I still get confused with the lingo, you mean it has the DCC board, add the little flag looking doo-hicky. (and possibly the speaker etc) We picked up the Tomar Drumhead Kit for her too. Should be nice

I’m not liable to sell linen and such, isn’rt me. I think I;'ve got a pic of her steaming out of Cinncinati
