I have been trying to find a way to make the corner piece for a Quonset hut. I have tried quite a few different ways of doing it but the metal wouldn’t go around the curve of the roof without getting a kink in the side. The metal needs to shrink as it is bent and after trying different ways of doing it, and having no success, I put the whole idea of making a Quonset Hut under the bench.
While I was doing my home therapy for my back this morning Lois asked me what I wanted to do with the tool that was used to take the staples out of my back from the operation last October.
Since I never throw anything away I looked at it and it looked similar to the tool we used to crimp vent pipe so it would fit inside another pipe, but much smaller.
The light bulb went off above my head. I didn’t finish my workout, went down to the basement dug out the old project and went to work.
After a couple of tries I think I may have it.
I usually make a condensed version of a model to see how things work out. That is what I have done here.
I don’t think it looks too bad. The pictures I have of the real thing have wrinkles and bulges in the trim.
At least I have tried to make it mine look like it is part of the design.
So will it pass for a Quonset Hut?
