I’m new to G scale and have just started purchasing items to begin a garden train. Any advice on type and compatibility or rail would be much appreciated. I’m planning to have a main long line and a short internal line. Testing out some used Aristocraft trains I’ve bought at auctions…
Keep in mind that while these are all ‘G gauge’ they may be at different scales.

Hello,
talking about track, very little difference in the rail itself.Aristo rail is more yellow and has less copper in the alloy than LGB’s.But it works just as well. I am finding more variation in the ties and rail joiners. It all depends on budget and personal taste. I like LGB myself. It is possible to buy used track cheaply, but you have to clean it up thoroughly, especially at the rail joints.
