Rail blamed in New York subway derailment
Steelton pa still makes rail for most of the usa
It’s of the greatest importance to, with utmost speed, find and test the rest of that rail.
For a stick of Nov, 2013, rail to break in May of 2014, it’s hard to imagine anything but a manufacturing flaw, which likely was a process screw up, repeated throughout the batch.
In the 1980’s miles of new CWR (“welded rail”)were torn out and replaced with different new rail near Tehachapi when a detected flaw repeated every 70 feet on all the faulty stalks installed.
Someone has more info, more specific and accurate about the Tehachapi incident.
Evraz Rocky Mountain steel mills pueblo co.
Where was the rail manufactured?? China??? I do not think there is mill rolling rail in the US. Correct me if I am wrong.
There are several mills which still roll rail in the US. Steelton, PA for USS and Columbia City, Indiana (operated by Steel Dynamics) to name two, for sure. I wasn’t sure the Colorado facility was still in operation. I know there used to be one in Tennessee somewhere, as well.
Was anyone injured? The article does not say.
