Rail buffs can chug up Feather River Canyon

Train buffs can take an overnight special through the Feather River Canyon, spend the night in Reno, NV and return to Sacramento, CA on an Apr01-02 trip planned by the Central Coast chapter of the National Railway Historical Society and the Pacific Locomotive Association.

The excursion starts in Emeryville, departs Sacramento at 10:00, then heads to Oroville and up the 116-mile canyon with live commentary by a railroad historian.

The train will be made up of single-level coaches and a full-length 1955 dome car. Passengers will take a bus to Reno for the night and return by the same route.

Cost is $299, based on double occupancy ($339 for single). The excursion is already two-thirds full; (925) 945-8938 or e-mail Henry Luna, hluna@keyholidays.com. - The Sacramento Bee, courtesy Larry W. Grant

That sounds like fun but some of us have to play with the 1:1 scale trains that move freight. [;)] Know what I mean? ! [8D]
