I really need some help with this!!!
First of all,
Can I do a rail crossing through and 18" radius or will it look really wierd?
Also, Do rail crossings in real life go through curves sometimes???
Does anyone have any advice on how i could fit in a rail crossing with minimal space if I shouldn’t do it through a curve??
First, I’m assuming you’re talking about a rail/roadway crossing. Yes, real railroads have roads crossing them in curves, and at angles other than 90 degrees. It makes no difference to the railroad, and you can model these at whatever angle fits your situation, just like the real thing.
What type of crossing is it going to be? Wood, Concrete, Asphalt? If it is wood I would suggest using individual strips of stripwood and scribing with a small snap saw to add grain, Stain with Alcohol/india ink and then cut the pieces as needed for the curve. Use duco cement so the wood doesn’t warp as glued. Concrete with plaster would be easier to mask off and pour. But the answer is yes there are road crossing on curves. Cletus
