Having spent the first 30 years of my life in Southern California, I have felt and seen lots of quake damage. I love how this shows the sudden shift in such a small area. Was also interesting that this section of rail is bolted to the ties instead of spiked.

If I couldn’t live where I do, New Zealand and/or Australia would be my next choices on the planet. I know Christchurch will return to the beautiful place it was before the quake. I am looking forward to my next visit. I hope our Kiwi members of the forum are safe. We’re thinking of you all.
