Railfan-favorite Illinois tower to close
I wonder if it could be moved, as other towers have been, and preserved somewhere?
I hope there’s a concerted effort to save this…I would contribute without any doubt.

If you go either direction between Libertyville and Lake Bluff Illinois on Rt 176 as you cross the tracks…you will see the tower to the South.
When I lived in Vernon Hills (1984-85), it was my favorite place to go.
A fine day at Rondout was when the operator would invite you up. Pretty good memorabilia on the walls too.
