Railfan Photogrphers Run-in With the Morton Grove Cops on TV

“The Pual Zahn Now” TV program is running a series on Security Watch. One of the topics on tonight’s (August 3) program will be about the railfan photographers who had a run-in with the Morton Grove cops while photographing a METRA train from the Mortn Grove station last January.

The “Paula Zahn Now” TV program runs on CNN (not CNN News) at 8 PM ET

Thanks for the Reminder! I will be watching tonight.

Is that Eastern Time, or what? I would think so because you have MD in your username, is that Maryland?

It’s on now.

I’m not being rude, but he wrote it at the bottom right of his post. I’m watching right now!!

what channel for Direct tv people like me

Never mind I found it.

This was a short segment which mainly showed what the government can do to those suspected as being terrorists. However, it showed two cases of how hobbyists could be affected, and what can be done when people stand up for their rights.

Randy Burgess and Paul Olsen were briefly interviewed, and they pointed out that railfan photographers should not singled out as being suspected terrorists, but perhaps if somebody were dragging an oversize suitcase they might legitimately arouse suspicion. The owner of a dive shop whose records were subpeonaed was also interviewed; he sued, and he got the government to voluntarily back off. They also showed a short clip of one of their camera men answering questions from what I think was the DC Cops in a not too cooperative fashion.

The airtime for the railfans was, IMO, rather short. Only a couple minutes total. I had ASSumed the entire segment was to be only on them and railfanning/shooting photos in general. Guess not. [:(]

Chicago is a huge metro area with lots of railfans, but why does it seem nonetheless that we have an outsize proportion of IGNORANT Barney Fifes and RR bulls???

As long as you stay on public property you will be ok. Even a side walk will do.
