Railfan Photos

Is there any place on the web where you can view other peoples’ railfanning photos or post one or two of your own?

Maybe trains.com could let everyone post their favorite railfan photo with small caption information for those of us who don’t have our own websites?

Thoughts?

Try www.railpictures.net You can become a member (free) and post your pictures there.

What the hell is the use for E-mailing someone on this site (when you see a good photo) when the damn thing comes back and says:“YOUR E-MAIL HAS BEEN DENIED”.
What a stupid worthless web site.[V][:(!]

Yeah, try www.railpictures.net and http://photos.nerail.org

Sorry …I meant Railpictures.net
The site is a great place for good photo’s but when you try to e-mail the person on railpictures.net your message is denied.

As much as I like railpictures.net, I wi***here were pictures of things other than locomotives. LIke 99% of stuff seems to be the head-end of a train.

Railpictures.net is quite stringent on their requirements. Alot of pictures get rejected by them. They do have a nice site otherwise.

After submitting about 20 calender quality photo’s only to have them all rejected by railpictures.net, I have given up on them. I deleted there address from my favorites and I rarely go there anymore, it’s a completely worthless site, for professional photographers. Anything taken in anything less tha pure sunlight is rejected for being “too dark”. Too dark my butt!! Okay, rant over now.

It would be nice if we could upload a photo or two with our posts here…What I don’t understand,is how the poster above was able to upload a pic…I don’t see any option on the posting menu for uploading pics…Confused,.Dave Williams

Look for yahoo discussion groups on specific areas…I own one and belong to 4 others covering specifics areas…All of the groups I belong to have a photo section where you can upload pics…Dave Williams

Yeah I like those. Just wi***hey had more space for captions.

You have to host your image somewhere. Railimages.com is a good place for this. You upload a photo there and then take the URL of that photo, paste it to your message and then place img tags on both sides of the URL.

Greetings,

I would suggest the following webpages for posting and viewing railfan photos.

Railroad Forums - http://www.railroadforums.com

This forum is run very well. Most everyone on the forum is cordial. They also have monthly photo contests that anyone can enter. Also the best part is its “FREE” to join.

To just see photos I would suggest

http://www.railimages.com

Railimages is also FREE. You will be assigned an area where you can post your Railfan and Model Railroad photos. People can even vote or rate your photos. On RailImages no one decides what photos will be posted, Just YOU.

Feel free to check out my Album at railimages http://www.railimages.com/albums/keithschmidt

Here are some examples of the photos I have posted.

I hope these two webpages will be helpful.

You can also get free web hosting at

www.trainweb.org

You have to be able to make your own pages, but that isn’t too hard,
and once you get the hang of it, it is a lot of fun to create your own “look”
instead of using somebody else’s canned format.

Good Luck!

Great shots Keith!

Yes, great shots Keith.

I just use my own hosting that comes with having an AOL instant messanger account.

I wish my digital camera was better and had more memory. I have to keep the pictures at low res if I want to take more than 24.

This picture would have looked great if the trees didn’t get all funky looking when the image was reduced in size. I seem to take pictures that make the train look really small in comparison to everything around it. I like doing that. It makes the grandeur of the scenery look even more impressive.

I think I went overboard on that one though [:D]

Better to use one of the links above that don’t have a bandwidth
limitation. In another thread someone posted a link to their
free-bee site. When I tried it I got a big message saying that they
had exceeded their allowed bandwidth. Seems to me it would take
less bandwidth to just show the page!

Thanks for the nice comments about the pictures.
