[;)]Just for fun, If you were given the chance to live on a train for at least 6 months[^], would you. Would you take your family?[:)], give up your job?[xx(], move out of your house/apartment?[:(] what would you do?[?][?]
Hmm thats a good question. Maybe.
Can you still take showers?
cant say that i would, why would i give up a pay check to drive them, when i can flow back to a conductor and get payed to sleep on them too…besides, once my 12 hours is up, i want off,…dont know if i could keep from going nuts if i had to live on a train.

only thing better then a CW-44-9AC, is sex
I agree with CSX engineer. After 10+ hours of running some junker six-packs with an 8000 ton train i am done and dont want to see another train for at least 10 hours. I am a railfan tried and true but it becomes something different when you work day in and day out on the railroad.
2 questions.
“trainheartedguy” – can I take my dog ?
98 – Is that what’s really meant by those “comfort cabs” ?
Just take your kids on a cross-country Amtrak trip…
What, only five months and 29 days to go?
(I’d rather be outside watching the trains. And I’ve got twelve months a year of that!)
I married with a couple of kids…can you hook me up with a CW-44-9AC?
Dan - They tell me the SD70 is much better - …

No - as much as I love trains - I want everything in small doses. I sure wouldn’t want to stay in my house 6 mos at a time, altho the scenery doesn’t change. Besides, I am interested in the front end - and I can’t see it coming right at me if I am behind it!

If you plan it right you could see the front end coming at you…once.
as to the other, I’d settle for one of Ed’s MK’s wearing hangie down thingies…
[:)]Basicly been there done that diffrent trains for over 10 years it gets old & boring
(kinda like workin a state fair)[8]
(or being with the same woman more than twice)[:D][:D]
Maybe, if the conditions are right, ie. location of train, routes traveled and type of train. Heavy weight six axle coaches a +, amfleet coaches no way.
SD70macs just brake down, kinka like when my wife says she has a headache… you want to go, but nothing happens…lol

Uh duh know…living in a boxcar for six months dont sound that appealing to me…
OK, tell ya what, Ill make it more specific. How about uhhhh… your choice of UP 844 of NS 611, with whatever consist, and whatever and whoever you want to take along. Hows about a full private crew and Wine train chef too!
I would say I’d move into the American Orient exprecc considt behind 611 for the rest of my life (Move over NS, I aint givin you yo loco back until im done)

I might give up a job to take the 611. Pullman car, dinner, and observation car I have all i need. I could make a living running excursion trips… as long as insurance rates don’t go up.
ok…i might bite on the last post that traindude made, as long as thier was a tanker car full of beer on the train…and a club car full of erotic dancers…lol

My choice of consist, engines, whoever I want, stuff to bring?
Get me a couple of passenger cars and furni***hem with stuff from home. We of course have to stop off every once in a while, even when I went 3 days without going anywhere, I still went outside.

I don’t know about 6 months. That is an awful lot of time to be on a train! Cut it back to about a month. 5 months is a big cut but 1 month is about all I could endure maybe not even that much. I would take my family if I could get them to go. I don’t have a job except for 7th grade, so I would just do it over summer vacation. What would I do? Read, watch T.V. if I’m allowed to take it, and watch the scenery. I would want the NS 611 and 10 cars. No wine for me though! Cool question. I could make a whole story about my trip.
