Hello everybody,
I was wondering what is the traffic like at the Cranberry grade in West Virginia? Never been there but plan on going during the next long weekend. The nice bonus is that Horsehoe Curve is part way between home and Cranberry grade. [:)]
Any information would be appreciated.

As I recall there is only one merchandise train a day each way plus a few unit coal/empties trains on the Cranberry Grade. Moreover, while the line is still mostly double track there is at least one stretch of single track that is sort of a bottleneck.
Thank you for the reply. Found out about this place from the Trains magazine titled “CSX pushing diesels to the max”. Had hoped there would be more traffic. Will see if I actually make it there, or stay at Horseshoe curve for an extra day.
